This is actually lineart for a sprite. I'm still working on a game called Eldar Quest (based on Tolkien's Silmarillion). I would appreciate any CC! Thanks!

arms should be longer, even if its an elf arms usually hang down to where fingertips are just below the bottom of the hipbone. otherwise good trace so far, lets see you color it

Alright, longer arms. Do you think they bow out too much? That's what I'm thinking. I will try to start the coloring, although it's a bit daunting considering I've never colored something this large before!

hmm duno, would have to see them longer first, also his skirt, hot pants, or whatever the hell he's wearing, you might want to make it a little more "loose" but then again you might be able to do that with shading technique and colors.

the arms need to be longer like dogmeat said, and they do bow out too much IMO. I also think that he looks a bit bulky for an elf, slim him out a bit cos at the moment he looks a bit like a chunky vampire. but apart from that, it's definately a good base to work on.

No, no, no, not Legolas. This elf is of the Noldor race not Sindar. Anyways... here is the first step in the coloring process: Obviously I CAN'T color... so don't expect too much (I am new to this)... feel free to color/shade it if you would like... I'm sure I could learn alot from an example!

here's my contribution of some chainmail. www.alongwayfromhome.com/pixelart/elf.gif[/img] i have always seen tolkiens elves as being quite murky looking, hence the muddy pallette, which was taken from one of my bushinome sprites.

Brent the best tip i can give you on coloring is to make basic blotches. What I do is i take the color of whatever it is, IE the leg was dark brown, then I pick a darker shade of that brown, then a lighter shade of that darker shade, then a lighter shade of the original brown, place these blotches of color on the object keepign in mind where the lightsource is or what kind of material it is, in this case, leather. After I have my basic shapes, I go in and tweak them and blend them together till I think it looks how it should. what you should do is keep the lightsource trowa and I have gone by and shade/color the rest in keeping in mind where the light is coming from, reflecting off of, etc..

Thanks for the tips, advice is ALWAYS appreciated! Of course I'm still beating around the bush... shading scares me... haha, what can I say. Anyways, I did add some detailing:

Look at all those posts! I finally decided to registera real name so I can use the edit feature instead of posting a million replies! Anyways, here is my latest update: I'm begging you all for C&C, please let me know what I could imporove. Obviously his face and hand need shading, but... I'm still working on that heh... Thanks! BTW: I will eventually reshade the legs also!

starting to look good, only thing i suggest at this point is on the feet, where the boots bend, try and add some highlight there, kind of like what I did with the knees, the shadow is too dark, and when leather bends the parts that stick out get some highlight.
