Well Hi There, I'm not really new to Pixelation (Old Forums Included) but I lurked mainly, Never posted. I'm quite newbish in my work so dont expect anything "Exciting" . I was playing Smash Brothers Melee at Sam Goody (A Electronic Store, they let you play the Game Cubes and stuff) And I was bowser, and he looked cool, so I decided to find a ref pic on Google and do a cartoonish pixel art picture of him. ;D Original - 35 Colors Edit - 32 Colors twys.free-host.com/Bowser32.png[/img]Edit - 30 Colors, Higher Contrast twys.free-host.com/BowserHC30Colors.png [/img] Heres the Reference www.classicgaming.com/sotss/goodies/images/paper/art/bowser.gif [/img] I gave up on him on his Bracelts w/ spikes, I might finish them later when I have a chance. I might be doing some more Nintendo type characters lol, their kinda fun. I'm kinda a bowser fan too, so you might be able to expect more from me on bowser. ~Twis

I like his face. His hands need some more work. You need to define they're shapes better they look as quickly hand-drawn with a pencil using a mouse. Try t smooth them somehow. And do those spikes man you can do it :]Take 3 grey shades + white colour. Then decide which pixel is an end of spike. And draw a conical shading. You can do it :]

heh, that Bowser looks oddly ... cute... o_O
Anyways, 35 colours? Seems a bit too much, imho. Suggestion to reduce colours: - the hair higlight-colour can be replaced by one of the skin colours - mouth-area-skin-colour (O_O") and the darker body colour can share the same colours. Also the horns' shade could use the darker skin-colour, seeing that they( the shades) are basicaly similiar in colour-tone. ( f.e. the m-a-s-c shade colour could be the basic darker-skin colour, etc.). Same with the light torso-colour (by using the highlight&base colours of the m-a-s-c ). Thus you probably could reduce the colour-count to around 25 (by a rough estimmwhateverthatwordwas (^^") that for 4/5 colour-areas you'll need 2 shades& 2 highlights + a possible buffer. (Hope I didn't confuse you ^^")
Other things: - try raising the contrast a little bit; currently it's rather flat looking - you forgot to shade his throat, nails and the shells white-thingy.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I was afraid I wouldnt get any help on him ^_^ methinks: His hands were my first hands ever drawn lol, I'll see if I can kinda make them softer. Thanks for the nice way to do those spikes ;D I'll get at em today. Faerith: lol, I at least gave the expression of a cute lil ole mean bowser I'll use your great suggestions on how to keep the color count down ^_^ It was easily understandable, though I dont know how well i'll be able to carry it out And I'm still working on the nails and the "Shell Rim", hehe thanks though I almost forgot about them . EDIT: Well, I worked on him for a bit, added some stuff to the bracelets and spikes, and the rims, and I worked on combining colors to lower the count, and heres what I came up with... He is 32 Colors, I wasnt sure what else I could do to lower it And I wasnt exactly how to make the spikes in a conical shading. Then I raised the Contrast a tad, and came up with this guy... He's only 30 colors...But I dont know if I like him "bright", plus I dont know if thats what you meant by raise the contrast a tad.

It looks pretty good. You got some colors that are very similer to each other. Look in his mouth, I cannot see the different between the two colors unless I zoomed in closely. Then we have another 2 colors on bowser face that are much too alike. There's an shade of orange on bowser's side need to be change so it can gradually shade to light to dark. (I hope I'm not being to harse ) I think I can get it down to 16 colors. I think this is a mad wicked Bowser. Do you mind if i edit the colors and display it here?

No go ahead and edit him ^_^ But, the colors in his mouth are used in his Flames/Hair, so I dont think deleting the one color would matter much. His three skintones (In the Mouth Area) I think are used in other places, In the light skin area there is a mouth color, and on the torso/chest. But you can do whatever you like with it, if you ask me first of course And what do you think of the Spikes/Bracelets? I'm not to sure if they look ok.
