Ok, I call this guy whaleman, only cause after I drew him ( originally ) I thought he looked like a whale. The original was done in Illustrator, for something at work that never was a go... Anyway, had a few minutes on my lunch hour here so I thought i'd see if I could pixel him Here is the result: MODIFIED: ORIGINAL: and the original:

That thing is awesome! I really like both versions! I'm now curios as to where you work... and why you would be drawing whale men!? Anyways, great job!

He's pillow shaded, define a light-source. Great design, awful shading. You can't just shade everything outward. You need highlights, shadows, and mid tones. I'm not trying to be mean. You just did the shading wrong.

Tell me I'm ignorant if you want, but could you tell me where the light-source is?

he's a very round bodied slimy type of creature, the light source is upper left, I think it looks fine.

If that's so, he his front leg should have such a pronounced highlight. Do you agree?

compared to his back leg I think it has a proper highlight. Maybe Ill work on the shading more so it defines his "curves" better.

The changes are very slight, but I just noticed that when a mouth is open the cheeks go in, so his cheeks should be darker not highlight at all.
