I'm really missing the regular boards right now... Anyway, what I needed from you dudes is some info on industry rates for professional pixel art. Up until now, when I've negotiated contracts, I've done so on a batch basis, depending on how long I thought I'd need to complete the job and the relative complexity. I've recently been offered a full-time position at a mobile gaming company in Quebec, but I just moved to Calgary a month ago and don't have the funds to head back east, so they wanted to know my hourly rate for work. Could anyone give me an idea of what the standard wage range is for doing full-time work on mobile platforms? If you know the Canadian standards that's excellent, but US would be fine as well. Thanks in advance!

I really dont know about pixel art, but if you take logo design and divide it by half that would probably be about the right price. Logo designs go from 50 to 85$ a hour.

Logo designs go from 50 to 85$ a hour. Nice, although im guessing most logo's only take about an hour or so to do? I would think pixelling would probably be a little less then half, im really not sure though. You should probably ask people like Kenneth Fejer or Sals.

A good logo is one of the most difficult design tasks, it is the face of a company it appears on every piece of communication, so they must be legible/readableand look good at any size and great logos should also work and be recognizable in b/w (for faxing and such). Don't underestimate the hard work that goes into crafting a logo.

Got the info I needed from a colleague...thanks for the input, though...go logo design! Little talent for simplified (sometimes complex) graphical work, like that which goes into logos...I like my work detailed and representational (and narrative if possible).

Just curious, what is the answer? I'm just curious how much a pixel artist should be making.

I vary a LOT project to project. I've done full gigs for free if it's some hobby joe having fun, and I've probably pulled in around $50 or more an hour. If it's a fulltime, 40 hours/week gig I'd say anything that pays the bills and makes ya happy is worth your time.
