1. 2. 3. 4. I'm having a hard time choosing which idle/breathe anim I should use in a game I'm working on. Please vote on the crouching order you think looks best. (The images are numbered in the same order as the poll alternatives appear)

how about spicing it up a little by adding lateral movement? people donĀ“t just breathe up and down... maybe have his arms do something while he bounces up and down?

Personally, I think they'd look better if the head didn't bounce up & down =X There's something uncomfortable about that motion. I'm just thinking of my own neck doing that.. ouch =P Otherwise, I think he looks really cool.. Nice coloring job I think, and I think the anatomy is accurate too.

I don't really like any of them... he just kinda bobs up and down, and it doesn't look like he's breathing at all. Add a 1px backwards movement at the height of his posture, and it may help it a bit.

I like em. But I definantly think the 3rd is the best and most natural. By having the head raise first, it signals his intention to stand up straight. It's just like how a real person will raise their head and look before standing. But likewise, a person will drop their body before they drop their head to relax when they sit.
I have to say it has a distinct style. If you emphasize it in the other game elements like background it could come out really cool. I don't really agree with nemesis's assessment for two reasons. First (depending on whether other elements of the game reinforce it) it would reduce that distinct style. Secondly, I don't think it's important to show breathing while wearing heavy armor.
