Well, I'm still learning how to do this pixeling stuff. Usually when I need to try to practice something, I tend to draw FFVII stuff, as it's something I do with fanart a lot so it's something I'm familiar with.
So, I did a little Cait Sith face, a little Red XIII face and a little chocobo.
I think I've messed up the Chocobo's leg a little, but I'm not sure how to pixel something like that well, with it being so narrow and all...
Well, I like them. I'm not sure how the original characters are supposed to look like but Cait Sith works best, since its rather flat shaded and doesn't use so many highlights. Nice and clean. The Red XIII face doesn't give as convincing sense of form, IMO. It looks a bit like a mask lit in front, maybe you could try reduce the highligts a little and model the features a bit more with the base colors. Esp the snout/nose area could use some darker shading above it to make it "pop out" more. For Chocobo, my suggestion would be to select the middle part of the leg and move it one pixel to the right, then maybe it will look a bit more natural. you could thenuse the darker browns with selective outlining to break up the black. Ok, just some random thoughts. I don't know if I'm good at giving critiques but I hope I made some sense. Post more! ;D
