that's not true, dogmeat. mspaint is much faster than photoshop. it doesn't really matter how much ram you have, the simple fact of the matter is that paint uses up alot less ram and has the same function. Paint should be faster unless your machine is fast enough for it not to matter. but mine isn't.
i'm really really tired of people bashing mspaint. it's really uncalled for, for the most, if not the entire, part. i assure you if you spent as much time in your beginnings in pixelling as you did in photoshop, you'd have just as easy a time pixelling in mspaint. photoshop bogs me down- it has a ton of excessive features, always attacks me with automatic aa'ing and alot of tools that aren't useful and are confusing, and it is much too slow. I can understand using photoshop for different layers, but i can tweak colors and use transparency as easily in my gif program, and compile animations as well.
photoshop, to me as a pixeller, is like carrying around a printing press when all you need is a typewriter.
those are my two bits. i really hate this argument, i don't wanna have it anymore.

oh and nem, in no way does mspaint make anything you do in it faster then photoshop, unless your still running a p133 with 32mb of ram It loads a heck of alot faster. Color selection is quicker (but again, not half as good). Tool use is easier. I use it for quickie sketches, which I always finish up in Photoshop. And Ev: oh yes!

Which of ya people who use MS Paint and Photshop have used Paint Shop Pro? PSP loads near instantly and is easy to use like MS Paint but has plenty of Photoshops features like layers. And that d**n handy lil browser function has saved me so much time looking for files...

PF, bud, im not bashing anything I did my first ever pixel art on the paint program that came with windows 3.1, whatever that was, probably the first mspaint, theres nothing wrong with mspaint, it is just limited, and requires extra steps for certain things that folks have already pointed out numerous times. If your on a budget, dont pirate software, have a low end system, mspaint or PSP is definately the program for you, but people like me who have been using photoshop for almost the entire lifespan of the program, trying to convince me to use mspaint is like trying to convince a millionaire to give up his riches and live in a cardboard box.

Note, the millionare would be happy if he did. I win. =)
I take it you would have said bass if you played the bass guitar... I play that, by the way. Are you good at guitar and piano?

Well, I use different programs for different things, but I'll just stick to my pixeling tools . . .
Design: MSPaint and iDraw. I use MSPaint for opening images and prepping them for iDraw. I use iDraw for the pallette management and specialized pixeling tools. I can and have used straight MSPaint, though. Only problem is that it can't convert to internet-friendly filetypes well.
Animation: Microsoft GIF animator. Simple, easy to use, and it works.
And that's it.

The whole percussion chunk of instruments, or some in that category? :p
Heh, while we're at it, everyone might as well say what they play.

Nothing. I dearly wish that I did however, but I only ever played the soprano recorder (ugh... such a shrill instrument) and no longer have the time to learn or practice.
I did get to the point where I could play Greensleeves on that sucker. That was inordinately difficult. Be much easier and better sounding on an alto recorder (which is a beautiful instrument, unlike it's gay plastic cousin).

Design: I don't know what you mean by design. I'm guessing like CAD. So I use PTC ProDESKTOP 2000i2.
Animation: Hardly do this, but when I do, it's Animation Shop.
Development: Hardly do this, but it's The Games Factory when I do.
I'm mainly a musician. I play clarinet, bass clarinet, guitar, and soon I'm gonna learn flute and saxophone. I can sing a bit. I also do music using Magix software.

Ever heard of Music Mucker? It sucks.
EVERYONE takes the guitar. EVERYONE. I took the bass to spite them XD. I sing a little too, though I haven't taken lessons so I'm not sure how good I am, exactly. I like doing it though.

I only had a guitar because I couldnt fork out 4g's for a real piano, forget those crappy electronic pieces of nuts, none of them ever come close to the soothing sound of a real piano.

Pretty much all percussion except keyboard percussion (xylophone, glockenspiel, etc), I've played in both concert and jazz bands for about 5 years so in that time I've played everything from snare, to congas, to timpani.

I used to use Photoshop and Fireworks for everything.
Now I'm learning Pro Motion, which according to some people at work is something of an industry standard...? Haven't seen anyone else list it here, but it seems to be a great little program, with lots of control over palletes.
