I have noticed the influx of really great looking GBA ideas being posted on this site. Each with their own strong points. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to make it in the GBA development world. The info and help just isn't there. I was wondering if some of you other developers would like to form a round table of sorts. We could set of a site, people could apply for their dev team to join, and we help each other out. Need contact information for getting a license or getting published? I'm your man. Need a programmer? Oh, hey, I know a programmer that is looking for work that could help you. Need a pixel artist? Oh, I know this guy that's good, but he couldn't start when I needed him to,...here's his e-mail. That sort of stuff. If we help each other, we become a force. Alone, it's dog-eat-dogmeat ( ) What do you guys think? I could host it, no problem. I'm speaking directly to: Equa Studios Land of Relics Dan Posluns This could be a good way for you pixel artists to get good work as well, since applicants for the round table would be checked to see if they are full of it or not.

Hey, I think this is a great idea. I'm all for it. I'd support the idea 100%.

It will be hard to do and there are many ways it can become corrupt... I wanted to do the same thing at one time for online games. It's not impossible to do, but it is difficult. Make sure you think this thing out to the nth degree and especially all the possible ways it can become... less than optimal. And good luck.

I have no idea what you are talking about Ultim, but I am sure that we'll figure it out.
It just a matter of sharing resources that are not readily available, and working together...not sure how that could be corrupted....

I know, it seems perfectly all right. I'm not trying to talk down the idea or anything like that. I really want it to work and work well. There are a number of pitfalls, though. Say a member of a team is less philanthropic than you and yours. Your system can be easily corrupted for personal gain that could end up compromising the system itself. This is only one possible pitfall. I reiterate that I am for the idea, that I only want you to make sure it is used well.

i really like the idea of this round table. being the head of production for Satchel and the Kid, ive had to tour the internet to find candidates (obviously since this started adn still is a homebrew project, i was offering no money) and the number of rejections outnumbered the acceptions dramatically. currently, ive approached a local company about publishing and they seem interested but not certain, so id like to keep pushing it to other ones so that maybe, this game can be seen outside the confinds of pixelation. anywho, feel free to contact me (forgiving_thy_syns@hotmail.com for email and MSN messnger/ doctor sYnister for AIM) and maybe we can help eachother, and the aspiring artists, out.

Ultim, you are an odd one indeed. But what can I say, you're pretty cool anyways. By the way, how old are you? You seem really enthused with independently developed MMORPG's.

Great idea! I'll be sure to keep checking this thread. It's not just for pixel artists right?

Btw, sounds like gbadev.org. You DO know about that place right? The only thing with that, is its almost all programming. It doesn't have any useful information for artists, business stuff, etc. I would definetly like to read up more on the legal issues.

The problem these days is that there is too little contact between Pixelation and gbadev.org
I, for instance, could really have used some semiproffesional pixelart help with my game Iterum Consentus.

I like the idea, but I understand the pitfalls Ultim speaks of. I'd be interested in this if it were sort of a "deviantART," where you can browse through users in seperate categories (programmers, artists, writers, composers, etc.) and then they have listed all their contact information, and if they're currently accepting jobs. Yeah, and like group info, and game info along with everything that was already stated.
If interested I'd help with site design. AIM:slaveboy2forever

We'll call it a good even sixty-three. I'm rather enthused with independently developed MMORPGs because a long time ago I played one and it made me pretty happy, not to mention I found it to be a meeting place of "good" people. I'd like to pass that on to other gamers, and I don't want them to have to pay for it. I consider it an experience that should be felt by all, not by rich. So's I makes it my business to take the business out of MMORPGs, and I do my best to stick my hands in every part of it. I can't disagree with you- I am some sort of connundrum.

hrm, i understood this more like a gathering place (forum lets say) of information, contacts, websites and so on and not so much a devArt type site. although it does sound inticing(the deviant art style), i believe my interpretation would be better off, catering to not only the needs of aspiring artists seeking work, but also teams that have already banded together seeking publishing, or newbies that just want to learn. just my 2 cents

You might just be best to incorporate the thing into one big gaming company. You would have an okay start releasing three separate games in short succession, and you already have a nice well of management, coders, and designers. Just a suggestion.
